Not on a JK. The rear would make no sense at all, and since the front doesn't have locking hubs, that's not a good idea either.

You do realize what a spool is, right?

No, you don't want to do that. Not even a discussion here, just don't.

Hell yeah I know what a spool is haha the only reason that I ask is cuz JP magazine put them on their list of Holiday Gifts saying that even though there are tire wear and drivability issues, it's a low cost way to lock up the rear. Some people that I have talked to love 'em, saying that they are predictable and easy to adjust your driving habits to. Obviously the only drawback is screeching rubber and changing tires frequently.. I only have 33s so I doubt the D44 would twist up on me, especially if I take it easy.. But Redneck has spoken, and that dude knows what he's talkin' about, so I will just walk away quietly lol

I think a spool can be ok for a daily driver if you drive accordingly. I wouldn't do it, but if you think about how often a rear auto locker is locked on a daily driver it really doesn't make that much difference. selectable is what I want, on and off the trail.

A spool in the front is a great idea as long as y ou have locking hubs. Just unlock the hubs and drive it everyday. Lock ONE hub and go off road. Only lock BOTH hubs when you get in a tight spot, because steering will be reduced. If you follow those simple rules, a spool will be fine in the front.....of course the JK hasn't locking hubs, so all of this is a moot point.
