Never heard of it being done... For the price of parts and labor you are better off trading in the auto and buying a used manual.

If you are looking for performance your better off spending money on gears

My brother has done it on a car (celica). It's a major pita.

It's not just swapping transmissions. There are so many things like mounts, programming, electronics, etx. And that was an older car.

It really is an entirely different beast. I just got a Hemi put in mine and went from a manual to an auto, and there is a TON involved. Besides switching out the transmission, you will have to find all the cosmetic stuff: shifter, center console piece, and clutch pedal/equipment. That's the minimum I know about and there may be more; maybe a new wiring harness? Also, you will have to bring it to the dealership and get the computer reflashed as well.

Ultimately, unless you are paying for an engine conversion then it really isn't worth the cost. You may be able to save the money by doing all the work yourself, but I would say you are better off trading it in. Depending on what you trade it in for, you might not need to pay much of a difference since an automatic is more expensive.

I've seen/ done a few on some Hondas, honestly just spend the money on more mods. There isnt an advantage to standard over auto. More of a preference thing.

For the swap is say you need a donors rig to do it right. A lot of cap to change.

Trade it in or live with auto.

Hi,
am planning a hemi conversion and so confused which transmission I should go for. currently am driving manual but I read in many threads that Auto is better with Hemi and I don't know why!!! Can you plz share your experience here and share the reason why you went from Manual to Auto.

Regards

The manual used in the switch is discontinued and real pricey for rebuilds. And was told by my buddy that's a Transmission guy that it's a weak tranny.

A fellow club member did the opposite after his manual trannny died.
He got the auto tranny, brake pedal, center counsel stuff, shifter, and two wiring harnesses.
The he had the dealership flash it.
I had my JK there to check part numbers and to reference because it is an auto.
I do not recall how many hours were involved, but as others have said it is not a simple weekend job.
It took a couple of meembers, one who is a mechanic at least a couple weekends to get everything totally working in harmony.
The wiring harnesses are a royal PITA to get out, especially if they've been in for a while.
A couple connectors needed a contortionist to get to and to get to release.
They were doing the swap on a lift that made it a bit easier.
