Default auxiliary heater?

Ok I have a situation where in my line of work I have to spend up to of three hours a night, 4 days a week in my 2010 JK in winter. I did this for many years in my old 97 TJ (with a hard top), but my circulatory system took a serious hit this year and my extremities get colder much easier.

And I am a royally cheap bastard who doesnt want to run my jeep just for the heater. Is there any way I can run some kind of auxiliary heater without running my jeep? I can usually last an hour after I have blasted the heater for the 20 minute drive to work, but after that it can get miserably cold.

Note: I have a hard top.

You can buy one of those little tent heaters that run off of the small propane canisters it'll heat you up fast & the bottles last awhile

Be very careful if you go with one of those propane tent heaters as a jeep with a hardtop is sealed very tight compared to a tent. Carbon monoxide becomes an issue quicker when in a sealed vehicle. If you wanna go on the cheap and do this, go to the hardware store and get a Battery powered CO detector for your safety. You might be surprised how fast it goes off.

Buy a twin size electric blanket and converter and use your cig power outlet or a large heating pad? Best of luck!

I have this set-up for sleeping in the JKU. It works very well, even when it was only 17°F outside.

I experimented with it and found it would run for several nights without needing to charge the battery.

Default auxilary heaters

Have a look at Webasto Thermo Top heaters. They make in a 12 volt gasoline fired, plumbs into your heater hoses. You will want to make sure you have a good battery. There is a timer available for them runs approx one hour and brings the engine up to 160 degrees. I mounted mine behind the frt bumper under the winch.

Sorry didn't see that you would be sitting in your Jeep. Webasto also has gasoline bunk heaters same as the ones used in the big rigs. Very easy on the batteries only 2 amp draw on full heater. Just need to be creative on the mounting of it.

oh wow, I always wondered what the truckers used. But $800+ is a bit outta my price range. Plus I'd have to have it installed with a gas line etc etc..

That is a little too hardcore for me.

It's an interesting option, but I couldn't find one for less than 2 grand.

I spent $19 on the electric blanket, which works fine.

I'm actually interested in this too but for my truck. I work on big rigs and keep hoping for someone to have one go bad and just replace it so I can tear it apart and try to fix it for my truck.
