Oh, I'm not saying it can't be done or that others don't do it.... I was saying that I've never seen RTV in the tube from the factory and I know it to not be done.

I will acknowledge that most of the shafts I've pulled were being pulled because they were bad so new seals were going in. I do see where this could help on the installation of used shafts where the seal has already been compressed.

Get the correct level of fluid in there.
Then, see if it continues to leak before you take anything apart.

There are two common possible sources of front axle leaks.

It could be damaged seals from the axle shaft installation.
It could be residual oil in the tubes from when the axle shafts were out.
