Default Axle Straightness Problemo.....?

Question, I was just looking at my drivers side upper control arm (factory) mount (where it connects to the upper part of the differential) is NOT centered in the mount. It looks as if the entire axle is pulled over to the passenger side probably a 1/4" over. I wish I had a camera to be more specific to be able to show you. I then took a measurement for axle straightness (dr. side= 4 1/4" & pass. side= 4 5/8" out) When I installed my adj. track-bar, I was told to take the measurement with the bar attached, I have done some reading and some say to measure with the bar unattached. Could this be another way to measure the straightness instead of using the tire method? Which way is the best to measure and how much should I tighten the nut or loosen it?: dontknow2:
I have been suffering from "flighty" steering, and was wondering if this could be the cause, or if this could actually be two separate problems. I also checked my toe in, its an 8th of an inch in, followed the complete DIY alignment guide, and I re-torqued everything back to factory settings. The only problem I found was above. If someone could, check the control arm mount (dr. side) and let me know how it looks. OR HAVE I SOLVED MY OWN PROBLEM AND WRITING THIS FOR NOTHING!! Thanks In Advance!!

For the flightyness, try this one the FAQ's:
"Q: What is Caster? How much do I need?"
(4" lift with stock control arms should be a big hint...)

For the axle centering - you've already found the DIY Front End Alignment write-up, so just use the "Re-centering Your Front Axle" guide there...
