I think the Currie Iron Jock with D60 internals would work very well in the JK. Expecially running a 37" tire or bigger.

Probably run you $2500 to $3500 with a locker. It should not be long before the Currie's have them available with factory JK mounting location for bolt on applications...

The problem I see with upgrading to a custom 60, 9 or a 44 not out of a JK Ruby is getting the ESP to hook up to them. Most of your custom axle builders don't build stuff with traction control and ABS stuff built into them. So this may be a bit more tricky than previous models but I'm sure someone with come up with something.

I was just quoted $2100 for the D44 front from Airpark in Scottsdale.

It is really going to depend on how much the dealers mark it up. You can do better than that though.

All you will need to do is pass 12V through a relay to energize the electromagnet in the locker assembly. A simple toggle switch, hooked to a relay that allows 12V to pass through it to go to the axle will do the trick.

You are right. It is that simple. Everyone wants a way to bypass the locker switch limitations fo the from the factory. Why would someone want to hook it up like it comes from the factory? Just run a hot wire and a ground to it and place a switch in the dash. Nice and simple. Not limited to 4Lo only...

I just got the same quote here in Vermont, plus another 500 - 600 for install.

Then I guess I would have to get the D44 rear end if I want the locker to right? So I'd be looking at 6K for two axles seems high to me. I'll wait until I move back south were the prices are cheaper.

I think the track of the JK is 3.5" wider, but the factory wheel backspacing is different too. The overall width from the axle flanges may be even more than 3.5".
