Default Axles

I have a 2008 jeep wrangler x and I want to put Dana 60s on it. If I only have enough for one should I put it on the front or back first? Or not at all?

Since you have an X, I'd put it in the front, get chromoly axles and 5x5.5 spidertrax adapters for the rear 44. You do know you'll need to change rims right?

I agree with mkjeep. If you plan 60's you're better off not adding any cash to the front axle to make it 'just adequate'.

Couldn't agree more. The front axle is also significantly more, so buy that and when you save up some more money sell your 30/44 combo to help finance the rear.

You'll need rims because you won't be using a 5 on 5" wheel lug pattern when you get a 60. Many guys are going to the 5 on 5.5" pattern, some with 6 on 5.5" and others are even going to 8 lug. If you're going to use tires 38" or smaller tires, the 5 on 5.5" is a good choice. You could then use adapers on the rear, redrill yoru current shafts or buy new chro-mo shafts that are already dual drilled. When going to 60's most guys go up to a 17" wheel.

That depends on the brake and wheel. Not every combination will fit.
