Exclamation B&M shifter in a JK

I am looking for a performance shifter for my JK auto. Does anyone know what will work? B&M, TCI, HURST, etc..... Any advice will be helpful.

I'm not sure if anyone makes shifters for the JK yet. I looked a while back and didn't find anything. I'd like to know myself.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but please educate me a bit.

Just how does a "performance shifter" help in an auto trans?

I can understand a shift kit in a manual tranny, but have no clue about the above.

I have been looking to replace the wimpy shifter in mine since I got it, but so far no luck. It's not so much for performance, but so you can feel what gear you are shifting into and looks as mechanically inclined as the other parts of the Jeep.

a performance shifter for an automatic basically allows you to shift the gears yourself, when you want and how you want, without the risk of over or under shifting, which will damage your tranny. thats just from my point of view.

Novak makes a shifter for the transfer case. Not sure for the tranny though.

On the shifter console it has: P R N D 2 1 This means that there is NO detent from 3-4. Also, converter lockup is totally automatic as well. Converter lockup is basically a "5th" gear for the 4 speed automatic. That means that last shift and the converter lockup will still remain automatic functions. You will have control over only "ONE" shift, JUST like you have right now. Buying an aftermarket shifter will not change this. I don't think you will be happy with the results, but it's your money for sure.

Now as to the shift kit. Yes, Trans Go makes a shift kit for the 42RLE. It is part number 57930 A604 41TE A606 42LE 42RLE Transmission shift kit® 1988-on

Looks would be better but not much else will change for this auto and a shifter. As stated earlier the auto on our JK's doesn't allow all shifts manually.
Most items on my JK have a function but I have some for the looks as well.
I have my wheels because I like the looks. My beadlock look is just that. I wanted wheels for larger tires (function) and these were only $100 each so with the function and the looks I wanted - I bought them. Get what you want for your JK.
