backspacing question
ok... i understand the whole concept of backspacking and im wanting to get some input before blowing some cash on some wheels i cant use.. i got an 08 that came stock with 17's and am looking to go with a 15 inch wheel. ive seen that some people have had problems with brake calipers getting in the way and was wondering if a bigger or smaller backspacing would give me a better chance of the wheel clearing the caliper. the wheels im looking at are 15x10 and come in either a 3.75 or 4 inch backspacing just to let you know what im tryin to do. any help would be much appreciated...
first off, i just wanted to make sure you knew that 10" is a WIDE wheel and if you plan on wheeling your jeep, this is not a good thing as when you air down your tires for the trail, you'll have a greater chance of rolling your bead. if i may, i would recommend an 8" wide wheel instead. having said that, less back spacing will push your wheels further away from the body of your jeep and this will help you to clear the calipers. needless to say, both 3.75 and 4" will be good.
i wont be wheeling much.. the occasional mudhole but im goin with the mud grappler 33x13.5 15 and kinda need a wider wheel.. thanks for your reply though.. anyone else gone with a similar setup and had problems??
