Default Backspacing Question?

I have 37's with a Teraflex 4" lift. I picked up the Teraflex spacers until I found a rim I liked (which I still haven't, but I want some).

I wouldn't say I rub when fully turned, but I "brush lightly" on the lower suspension arm.

What would be the best backspacing for a 37 x 12.5 tire?

.... or have I completely missed the boat? Perhaps I need to worry about offset instead?

Thanks,
Seth

I did more searching....

Offset is the distance between the centerline either forward or backwards (don't care about this number really).

Backspacing is the distance between the mounting surface (where the rim meets the truck). Smaller backspacing meens the tires stick out more.

I'm figuring 4" or possibly 4.5" would do the trick with the 37's.

Now I just need to figure out if a 9" or 10" rim would be best and what the bolt spacing is? Is it 5 on 5"?

Thanks,
Seth

You could always crank the steering stop bolts on your knuckles out a hair. It would make your turning radius a little wider, but stop the rubbing.

Really? Hmmm... this is a good idea, the rubbing I have is so almost not there! hehehe. Thanks! I just have to find these bolts!

4.5 is the maximum you can go with and not have any rubbing. 4" or 3.75" should clear for sure.

As far as wheel size goes, I would stick with 8" or 9" wide at most. 10" is too wide IMHO and can bust a bead when aired down. Oh and bolt pattern in 5x5

Post Rim Width

Quoted from Teraflex 4" installation Sheet......

"Aftermarket wheels should be selected that are at least 16 inches in diameter with a 5 on 5-inch lug bolt pattern and 4.5 inch backspacing.
TeraFlex recommends a maximum tire diameter of 37 inches mounted on a 8-10inch wide rim for use after installing the JK 4 inch suspension system."

I have 35" on 17x8 with 4.5" inches of backspacing and I have no rubbing issues. My combination is on Tera's 3" lift using their recommendations.
