Default backspacing question

hey im getting a 2.5 in bb and 33 inch tires. im also buying the cragar soft 8 397's and want to know what kind of advise you can give me on the wheels. I want 17's but dont know if i should get the 17x8s with 4.5 in backspacing or the 17x9s with 5 in bs. i dont like seeing the tires sticking out from under the fenders but i also dont want the tires to look thin in width. a recomendation on tire width would be great too so i can start looking for some, thanks

I run 17X9 with 4.5 backspace and no lift. The tures are 33 X 11.5 and I like the stance and overall tire width and they help me on the sand where i do most of my driving.

With 4.5 BS on 17X9 and 33X11.5 tires you will have some meat not covered by the fenders - 1.25 inches or so...

I run the stock wheels with 33 x 11.50 and a 3" lift. No rubbing problems on the Jeep but my right ABS wire did rub through. Just check your ABS wire next to the brake line and make sure it won't rub with full steering lock.
