Default Backspacing VS Offset GRRRR!

Hello! Love the forum! I did the math with backspacing coverted to offset at http://1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp but just made my self more confused / Stock rims are 6 in Backspace and when I coverted to offset...well thats when the headache started..I might be trying to over think it

I Have a good grasp on backspacinge BUT:

T285/70/17 Duratrac Wranglers will be the shoes, est. 11.2 wide 32.7 high
The rims I want to get (XD-SPY Black) are available for my app in two sizes

17x8 offset +18mm

and

17x9 offset -12mm

What the?
Please please help, this is stoping me from ordering cause I dont want to get the wrong ones

I would like most of the tire under the flare, inch over not bad, but not sticking out 3 inches
I found a company that doesnt have spys on back order for 2 months / stated in stock!!

Thank you for your time!!
John G.

I'm running the same Duratracs on a +10mm offset on a 9". The rear wheels are VERY close to the swaybar links on a 2.5" lift. I think the +18s would be too much backspacing. The tire clearance seems to be good all the way around.

Default mhmm

OK!

17x8 has 5.2 inches of back spacing
and
17x9 has 4.5 inches of back spacing

Tires are 285/70/17 @ 11.2 wide and 32.7 High

What do you recommed?
Since No Lift yet, from what I have heard the 5.2 is to close to the Jeeps internals I have seen some 5 inch deep with no lift, no problems, the guide for dummys says we shouldn't go over 4.75

Did I answer my own question?? I edit my posts a lot!!

I would go with 4.5" of backspacing. That is what is needed to run 35x12.5. I know you are running a little smaller, but it is better to have the 4.5" backspaced wheel. That way, you know your clearance will be good, and, if you do go to a larger tire down the road, you'll already be set up for it. Besides, something I have learned over the years...15" wheels are easy to find the size tire you want...17" wheels also have a larger choice of tire sizes...but for some reason the 16" wheels have less choices in tire sizes. I don't why that is. The 17" tires will cost more, but the selection is better.
