This location also makes it easy to back up to a trailer.
It stays put with three little magnets for several years now.
This is a great idea! Can you confirm the camera you have and also does it come with the magnets or you had purchase them separately?

My backup cam set up is Mito camera,Gentex 3.5" mirror with sPod system.
This period I don't have reserve tire so I installed the camera with a "windshield mount" in the center of my Spyder Poison tramp stamp. I think is the best position for backup.i can see exactly where I am.
Mito cam is the best! It hasn't led light but the night is so bright and the day is just perfect.

Just ordered the spare tire mounted camera from Crux Interfacing. It appears to be plug and play. We will have to wait for the install to see if it is as advertised.

Curious how it installs and if it is truly plug and play. I am looking at the brand motion one as well.

Install instructions are SO extensive! Will update once in install. For $230 hopefully it is as easy as they make it out to be.

Give us an update when it's installed. I'll be doing a camera as well and just started looking into them.

I put mine in the stock spare tire carrier with an electrical elbow pointing it out between my wheel spokes. Its nearly unnoticeable after painting it black and is out of the way for removing the spare. It is just a cheap $15 camera but it works great for me. I also wired it to a switch so i can turn on the camera while i'm driving to check on my trailer load if needed. May not be for everyone but it is perfect for me. sorry, i know they are not the greatest pics.
