Default Baja style build.

I want to do a baja style build with my JK, prerunner look. I Was wondering, What is the best lift to run with a 285/75/16 tire? Im also going to be running a tube style bumper, what does everyone think about the one rusty's has? Or i may build something like it. I was looking for an actual suspension type lift thats not super huge when running basically a 33 inch tire. Instead of a budget boost.

Finishlinewest.com might have something along your lines. Aren't coil overs the way to go for what you're looking for?

Sounds like he's going for the "budget" baja look. Coilovers probably aren't what he's looking for, but I get what you're saying.

If you really want a JK that could run baja, this is the way to go:

that thing is insane. I wish I had photos of the bottom side of it. Up on a rack or something. Bad ass machine. It is neat how much it still looks like a JK and is so heavily modded.

AND... Look at the chopped Flenders! Who built that thing?

Not sure who built it, but it has the fenders chopped in the same exact way that Woods cut his.

I've seen pictures of it stripped down, it's got Bilstein Blackhawk shocks and coilovers and really looks nothing like a jk without that fiberglass shell/ hardtop thing. I would love to have this setup though, but it's definitely no daily driver.

EDIT: Just found that it was built by Rubicon Express. Also, those Bilstein's are $3,000 at each corner!

Sorry for the multiple hijacks slimjim. To answer your question, the best "high-speed" suspension to fit 33's would probably be the Old Man Emu 2.5" system or the AEV 3.5" system. I would recommend at least front lower control arms with both and adjustable track-bars for the OME lift.

That should give you the lift you want with high-quality handling and shock absorption for prerunning speeds.

ya... I would get the aev kit, and the RE arm system. That would be ideal I think.

Hard to go wrong with OME, but if you're thinking about anything more baja than a cruise to the Hecho-In-Mexico outlet mall, it'll be a hard ride. I love that suspension for rocks and crawling, but it'll shake the crap right outta you doing some speed and big bumps.

BTW Don't forget Clayton with their amazing warranty. If you're moving at a good clip you're gonna break something.

I'd do the RE long arm with a double Evo double. Can't go wrong with a double double

Cut the hard top so the rear is exposed. Loose the rear tail gate and seats. Throw some Baja seats up front. Gusset the crap out of some 44's. Put a radiator where the rear seats were. Mount a spare to the rear roll bars and rear bed. Put a real roll cage in. Weld the doors shut. Oh yeah, throw a Hemi at it. Make it a 7 liter

I think that would look Baja style enough!
