Default balancing problems/questions

hey all,

Just threw on some 35x12.515 KM2's and got them roadforced but still have a wobble from 55-60 mph, but I have also have a vibe in the steering wheel at all speeds? Could it be the new tires breaking in? The steering wheels doesn't shake unless in that 55-60 mph but has a slight vibe to it pretty much all the time. I never had these problems with my Cooper STT's, really annoying...I did add 1.5 inch spacers to my sagging front TF 2.5 coils but I dont think that would be causing these vibes. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Mike

thanks for the reply, I think so too but was wondering about the constant vibes in wheel. Brand new wheels and tires.

Might be worth trying balancing beads instead of weights - especially ig its the tires and not rims tha are unbalanced to start (imbalances further out from hub accentuate vibrations etc).

check tire pressure and do a chalk line test for tread pattern - if your pattern is not even, adjust tire pressure accordingly.

have them re-align and make sure they pull old weights off. Are they using rim weights or inside wheel stick-on weights?

Also what wheels are you running? I had some universal style wheels a while back that required a shim to properly fit which tire shop insisted it did not. After a few re-balance trips they finally gave up and installed the shims, issue gone.

Think I may try to find a place that does that, or try to do the airsoft BB's on my own. I think I can do it without breaking the bead?

tire pressure is at 29 right now, and they are stick on weights.

take them back, with RoadForce they should be able to spin them and get the same vibration at speed to find the faulty balance.

you can also check to see if it looks like weights fell off, they leave a little residue that dirt sticks to and leaves a pattern.

I've seen the guys at my local Discount Tire go as far as remount the tire to the wheel then rebalance.

doesnt appear any of the weights have been lost. I think I may just go elsewhere to get them balanced again, I am gonna bring them to an offroad shop that handles big tires, just gotta find one now lol

good idea - check your tread pattern so at least you'll get the most even wear out of them as well..

Haven't tried that yet, was thinking of getting them balanced again before going that route. The tire places around here seem to pretty clueless when it comes to big tires, most of them ask me why I would even want tires that big lol. Also, the tires have a TON of stick on weights on them, I thought KM2's were supposed to be decent to balance!!

KM2's are supposed to be easy to balance. Buddy has them on his Jeep and he hasn't had balancing issues.

Only time they give him problems is in this Texas mud - if he doesn't wash it off it dries like cement and it's a hell of a ride home.
