Default Balancing tires with BB's

Anyone do this anymore?

I know back... 15 years ago or so... we used to buy our tires, spend a day beating, prying, pounding, etc... getting them on the rims and then use 1-2 shots of stainless steel BB's to balance them... never had a tire ride so smooth as a BB balanced 37" MT.

Is this still being done? lifetime balance for 5 wheels/tires was about ... $6.00

The only drawback was the little "shooosh" sound when coming to a stop. lol

13.00 per 6-oz bag, ouch... those look just like my kids air-soft pellets. Wonder if anyone sells a stainless bb anymore (or ever - ignorance is bliss right?)

Buddy of mine drives truck and they use "equal"... havent looked it up yet, but sounds like the same idea

Equal has the tendency to clump. People use airsoft pellets too. There are a few other threads on it.

I have 12 oz of air soft bb in each of my 37" MTZ. Rides great.

LOL, the first I have ever heard of this. Now do you feed these BB's through the valve stem? Wikipedia said they are .171 of an inch and that sounds to big a diameter. I have this place just up the street from me, I'll have to give them a call.

PS: Still not getting that smooth ride out of my 35's Kevlars.

I used .25 pellets and put them in before I mounted the beadlocks.

I have never done it but an off-roader I know says he uses antifreeze.
