Tearing down ball joints might be a big pain in the a$$. You will need a press to get replaements in . You can get adjustable, serviceable BJs at rockauto.C_m

you do need a press, but its not that bad if you're mechanicly inclined

To do it by the book, you need a ball joint press. However, I've changed so many I cannot count just using a BFH and being really careful. Unless you know what to beat on, I wouldn't recommend it. The press will do a much cleaner job although it is much, much slower.

This may give you an idea what to look for:

h**p://www.google.com/products?q=ball+joint+press&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.m icrosoft:en-US&oe=utf8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=Do-qSsGkKoGGlAe9lti_Bg&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&c t=title&resnum=1

If you change yours, I would like the old ones for some R&D. I'll pay the shipping and some for your trouble of shipping them.

Most auto parts stores around here have a loaner tool program and they have ball-joint presses.

I bought one at Harbor Freight pretty cheap and even though it's imported "junk" it's done 4 vehicles so far so I'm happy with it.

You forgot to tell them that sometimes you need the magic sparkle wrench and a BFH
