What was the big deal with that? What problems were you having?

It was likely toed out and he wasn't able to adjust it back in far enough to get the correct toe setting.

Correct. When I adjusted it I simply threaded the ends out a bit until it looked like it matched. Then when I installed it I realzed it rendered the adjustment collar pretty much useless.
