Default Balljoints?

Ive been combing the threads for a while and it seems that balljoints fail ALL THE TIME especially with larger than stock tires. So my question is, should I just replace them now or wait until they wear out and become potentially hazardous?

No sense in changing them till they go bad an if they go bad . I had passenger side go bad and jeep dealership also replaced drivers side under warranty since I was so close to warranty running out and I had stock tires on with 3.50 rk suspension. Gotta love some of the dealerships

50k miles on my stockers, about 40 of which is running 33's. Mine are just beginning to show wear, but not enough to warrant replacement just yet. I personally wouldnt bother until it was required.

I see where your coming from and I just did exactly what you are reffering to. I experienced DW three times. I found the problem (track bar) which was not the ball joints but since the front end had taken such a beating I bought and had ball joints (MOOG) replaced. I did it solely for my piece of mind. I wouldn't suggest just swapping them for no reason if they are good but I had the funds and it was one less thing to worry about down the road.

I had significant play at 7k miles. It was enough play to cause death wobble if I hit a bump over 40mph.

Wait till they go bad. You'll have plenty of time to replace them once they do. It's not a timing belt.

Stock ball joints are junk. If you buy replacement balljoints from the dealership they'll have a 2000 mile warranty. Pure junk. When you replace yours go with a quality brand.

What does it typically cost to replace them with a good quality ball joint?
