Hello again to everybody:

Finally, after the answers I got, I’ve decided to fit a Teraflex Kit on my JK 2 Door. Anyways I have two doubts now about it:

The first one is that I don’t know if fitting a 2’5” Kit with spring coils and shocks, together to a front trackbar and steering stabilizer, and also adding a 1” bodylift. Or if fitting directly the 3” Teraflex Kit (also adding front trackbar and steering stabilizer). What do you guys recommend me?. (I will fit front Rudge Ridge bumber with winch and I’ve heard that our engines here, diesel, weight about 200 pounds more than yours).

From other posts I already know that for a 3” lift it’s not necessary new driveshafts, but, what about control arms?. Are they necessary in a 3” lift?. If they are necessary, would it be enough wih the front lower arms?. If not, what about front lower and rear upper ones?.

And what about wheels backspacing?. I will fit Procomp wheels that give a 4.50 of backspacing. Is this enough for Teraflex Kits, either 2’5” or 3”?.

My second doubt is about gears. As I will fit 35s, which ones should be enough to turn the JK to its original drive, 4.88?. (Originallly I have 3.73 gears). And, about buying it, if I want to change gears, do I have to buy just rings and pinions or I must also buy those kits that are sold apart (and very expensive, by the way)?. I mean, do I need just to replace rings and pinions or more parts must also be replaced?.

Ops, I think I had more than a couple doubts.

I'd suggest you start with these two in the FAQ's:

Q: What are all the components that I will need with a 3" lift?
Q: What are all the components that I will need with a 4" lift?
Pay attention to the driveshaft cautions!!

TF coils are tall. The 2.5" coils give over 3". The 3" coils give 4" on a 4door, closer to 5" on a 2door.

With either kit, I would suggest a set of front adjustable control arms. (no, you don't have to have them, but at 3" you can definitely tell the difference when driving...) If you end up needing a new rear driveshaft, then you'll want a set of uppers back there.

For gears, open the Drivetrain FAQ for suggestions and a good RPM chart. Generally, 35's with a manual = 4.88's. 35's with an auto = 5.13's. (opinions vary, but those are very popular...)

Here's what happened to me with my lift... Hope it helps you figure out what to do with yours.
I installed a Teraflex 2.5" budget boost. It has spacers, not coils, and uses the stock coils. After I installed my bumper and winch, the front sagged very low. I added Teraflex 3" lift springs in the front and it now sits perfectly level. I have a 4 door, which is a bit heavier than the 2 door, but you will probably need to compensate somehow. Maybe you should consider getting the 2.5" lift kit and adding spacers later to level your jeep after you add bumpers.

I would suggest that you not instal a body lift as it causes unusual gaps between bumpers, etc. I installed the TF upper and lower control arms but you probably can get away with just lowers in front but will need some adjustable arms in the rear if you change the drive shaft. Without the front adjustable arms you may not be able to align properly and may have the "death wobble". If you have an automatic you may find that you will need to replace the front drive shaft after wheeling a bit.

I did the 3" standard lift from TF on my 2dr X and left my bumpers stock for now. With in the next year or so you will want to replace your rear driveshaft due to the angle. When replacing your rear ds you will need to go with rear upper adjust arms. I did the TF adjustables. If you replace your bumpers and add that extra weight you may not need the ds as soon as I did. TF calculates their lift height assuming that people are going to do other mods that will add weight to the jeep.
