Question BB problems?

On another website, I saw an article about a problem with the TeraFlex 2.5" kit. Seems the kit shifted the rear axle (apparently to be expected) causing a pull to the right. They also experienced what they call "bump steer" where the Jeep would drift sideways when it hit bumps at speed. To address this, they installed a drop rear track bar bracket, and the problems were gone.

On to my questions (and please excuse by TOTAL lack of knowledge on this topic) - I am assuming that this problem is not isolated to TeraFlex, but would be caused by any similar system. Is that correct?

Has anybody here experienced similar problems?

Thanks!

I have a similar BB and had the shift but no issues. Not enough shift to be concerned with, I bought a BDS relocation bracket and a adjustable track bar for the front. But it's not out enough to make a difference. When I put my Skyjacker springs in (on the way!) then I will add them.

no issues here. I have axle shift, but it still drives straight with no bumpsteer.

Unless you install an adjustable front track bar and rear track bar relocation bracket, your axles will shift a bit due to the fixed lenght of your factory track bars. This is to be expected and is really not that big of a deal if you are just installing a 2.5" BB. As far as pulling to one side goes, the axle shift should not make enough of a difference to cause this to happen. As far as bump steer goes, you would only get this if you installed a front track bar relocation bracket without a dropped pitman arm or vice versa - Installing a rear track bar relocation bracket would NOT fix bump steer due to the fact that your rear axle does not control steering. Honestly, the info you have been getting is only half accuate if not absolutely terrible and I would not advise you to trust any of it.

Yes, the shift in your axles would happen with any lift kit if you do not install an adjustable front track bar to recenter your axle or a rear relocation bracket to help recenter it. It's a simple matter of math and hardly what I would consider to be a "problem" on a budget boost.

In all honesty, you should not have any problems installing a simple budget boost. Trust me on this

I have the TeraFlex 2.5 BB; no issues here. I have axle shift, but it still drives straight with no bumpsteer issues. I've had the lift on for 2 months now.

Would this axle shift cause any issues with tire wear?

I see... While I'm here, I hear there's a rumor about 2inch warranty voiding lifts. would the Terraflex 2.5 be an issue??? Or is it all dealer specific??? (I haven 't had the time to search.... i have a huge pharmacology test coming up...errr)

Also, 33 inch tires with the stock 3.21 gears??? Issue or not? (SORRY TO HIJACK!)

I just installed a Full Traction 2" BB with the optional M-Force shocks this past weekend and I must say the ride is surprisingly stock like. I think the M-Force's are a bit stiffer but no so much as to ruin your day. The axles are shifted a little and I mean very little (1/8"). She still tracks true with no bumpsteer to speak of.
