We have the BBK ceramic headers. When you consider how much California legal cats cost, which we needed anyhow, it was a no-brainer. They are a little loud, sound like the RIPPs, but a Hushpower resonator toned it down.

I have these with no cats on my SCed 3.8 as well. Would not recommend them at the very least. They actually lost power and make it difficult to get the right sound. Adding cats might make the two issues mentioned better but that is alot of coin to plunk down to experiment.

thanks for the replies. BBk's are cheaper then the Ripp but not stainless that's my only concern.

I really want the Borla's! Read the 3.8L needs back pressure so I plan on cat's and a resonator then a muffler. testing as I go.

were you able to retain the stock heat shields with them? (Borla's)
how does the y pipe fit? any pic's of the installation?
are you running an altitude pulley? or stock?
mine is just the stock pulley for now till I can find a better price on an Intercooler.

@TOTL nice hoods!!! I cut mine with a zip-cut to install a PSC hood loover

edit: going with the ceramic BBK's from tdot.... for the ease of install & everything is there. If I had a TIG welder I would of got the Borla's
but I found a deal on a 3 in 1 Miller for $700CAD only catch is that it's a 600v unit

Cant use factory heat shields with the Borlas.
I had to modify the y pipe anyway because of my long arm. Some pics:

I have a smaller pulley and custom tune.

Thanks

I ordered a set of BBK Tubes (ceramic) on my coffee break today.

that should clean it up a bit up in there! my arms are all cut up from the heatshields, changing my EGR (Auto)

thanks again for the replies.
I will update on my install. (Pics/Video's)

I can't tell in the pics, but they might be ceramic coated. Years ago I had BBK headers on my Mustang and they were ceramic coated, but looked shiny. In a few places you could see where the coating didn't stick. I also learned long ago to only buy stainless exhaust from now on.

I have a set of Edelbrock ceramic coated shorties on my 91 GMC they look just like JimK's pic on post 21, not shiny.
I only received 3 O2 extentions, there are 4 bungs and instruction sheet does not say how many come with it.
only says: "using the oxygen sensor extensions reconnect ALL of the oxygen sensors. NOTE!!! the longer oxygen sensor extension is used for the y-pipe."

also I thought the cat's were separate from the Y pipe.

edit: my sheet is blank but the PDF I downloaded has it on there.
