Cool The beast has awakened...

Hey old friends, 8 years ago when I got my 07 4 door Saraha, I spent hundreds of hours on this forum to learn all the mods that make you want more of them, but, mostly tires and lifts. I read every post of 33 v 35, BB vs leveling kit, etc ad nauseum. Now I spend most of my time on a Corvette forum and my brain is filled with headers and cam mods for that. Back to the JK, my trusty 33" BFG all terrains are dry rotted and so, now I obviously have to upgrade to 35's as we all know

The point of the above is I'm not a newbie, but don't have time to go back and re-learn all this stuff right now. My son drives the Jeep more than I do these days. For now, I just want some nice 35s that fit with a proper safe lift height. My JK is an auto with 4.10. I am tempted to read 1000 of posts and pictures again, but for now am hoping for someone to not point me to the stickies and give me a quick synopsis on the following and thanks:

1. I'll keep the 16" Pro Comp wheels for now - any big downside to not going to 17s instead?
2. Do I HAVE to get a new spare carrier or will the stock work for now?
3. I plan to keep the TF leveling Kit and just add a 1.5 body lift to make it all fit and not change drive geometry, (maybe new shocks too). Should I really consider a 2.5 or 3 BB instead? Or could I do leveling Kit and instead get stiffer springs instead of BL? What is most logical for now?
3. Loved the BFG AT KOs. Don't want to go MTs. But, any big recommendations for other 35 AT tires I should look at for price/looks/performance? I remember salivating over the Duratracs and Nittos, but that's all I remember, and that was 8 years ago, so sure there is a new favorite out there now.

Glad to be back in Jeep country here, I should probably find some other mods to do now too. Thanks for any help.

I'll take a stab at this..not knowing your budget, how/if you wheel, etc. These suggestions are just what I'd do..

1. You can keep the 16s and since they're aftermarket wheels the backspacing will probably be good to fit 35s, BUT there just isn't as big a selection when it comes to tires for 16" wheels. I'd go 17" if budget allowed.

2. You could get by with the stock carrier, at worst have to get an inexpensive relocation "plate" to raise it up a little. If you'll be bouncing around offroad with a heavy 35 however, the stock carrier/tailgate will more than likely bite the dust.

3. If keeping the leveling kit, I'd go with flatfenders of some sort. If flats are out, you may find you want a little more lift for looks/clearance.

4. As for tires, you can't go wrong with any of the big names..Nitto, Toyo, BFG, Goodyear (Duratrac), Cooper, etc. I've personally had Duratracs and they served me well..great all around tire. Currently have BFG KO2 all terrains and have been pleased with them so far...also had the original BFG all terrains years ago and they were great as well.

Hope this helps..good luck!
