Default Before the Wheeling starts.....

Okay my Lift is done, tires are done. Before the wheeling season what do you think. I have a Auto Unlimited with 3.73 gears and running a 4.5" lift and 35 Toyos. What is more important front Drive shaft or 5.13 gears.....Or both?

I am thinking driveshaft since on road its only about an inch away from skid plate, if that I dont think i could even let suspension droop at all as it sits. Next is what kind of DS would be best.

Think I will be at least ordering gears, just so I have them and can get them installed whenever. jeep is a pig right now on highway with the 3.73.

Definitely the drive shaft. You might be slow with gears but you will still be able to get there.

Pull the front driveshaft, gear and lock the rear...

You can always cut a notch in the skid plate and get the gears.

x2 Even an aftermarket shaft would probably hit the skid without trimming it almost all the way back to the exhaust crossover.

hitting your front drive shaft on your skidplate is the least of your worries. as you articulate your front axle, the shaft will catch the tranny pan and tear off the spline shaft boot well before the skid plate becomes an issue. keep doing this and it is possible for the tranny pan to start leaking at the seam. definitely get a new front shaft before regearing.
