Default Benchmark Dual battery instructions - ?

Hi,

Does anyone have an electronic copy of the nstructions for the Benchmark dual battery and wiring kit they would be willing to email me. I think John probably sent them to me before but I don't have access to the email they would have been sent to (can't find on the web either) and wanted to fit this up this weekend if possible.

The kit looks great BTW.

Anyway - if anyone has them and would be willing to email them to me, please could you PM me and I'll PM back with my email address.

Thanks,

I saw both of those but need the specific instructions or the Benchmark kit.

Cheers,

Steve

Just sent it to your other email Steve. Sorry, all I had was your work email.

Email me or give me call if you have any questions during the install.

Thanks!

Default Thanks!

Thanks John,

I got them just perfect - they're pretty comprehenbsive so hopefully should get this all set up before the end of the weekend.

It was my error - I'm at home now and don't have access to the email I gave you when I made the order originally.

Cheers,

Steve

Default All done!

Here's the report and a couple of notes.

I got the kit all installed yesterday afternoon - both the dual tray and the wiring kit.

1. This is beautifully made and very nicely designed - it's a pretty straightforward modification too. I'm really happy with the end result.
2. when I opened the box I was concerned that there were no bolts - this turned out to be fine - there are no bolts with the kit - all the bolts you need are reused from the removal of the OEM tray.
3. If you have a 2007 JK the instructions state that you can only bolt the TIPM tray in with three bolts - I did a little reworking of a couple of the holes with a rat tail file and that enables four bolts to be used (for what that's worth).
4. Part of my mod was to also install a Warn power interrupt kit. I haven't finished that yet but it has to be installed near the battery. I wanted to actuate it from a switch in the cab - the installation of the Benchmark battery tray usefully exposes a huge grommet in the bulkhead which can be conveniently used to route the power interrupt kit wiring (You need to remove the glovebox from the inside to access from the cab).
5. When fitting the wiring kit, there is a need to drill out the factory cable ends for the positive battery connections. If you do this then my advice would be to put a sheet over the engine bay before you drill to avoid spreading iron filings over the engine bay necessitating a long vacuuming session.
6. There is an option to install an "override" button and warning light to be used for example when cold-starting or whatever. I haven't done this yet - I have to order the parts but will probably put that on my list of future mods.
7. If you are buying 2 new batteries to go with this kit then I would strongly recommend going with Optima yellowtops - the kit is obviously built with these specific batteries in mind (although it can clearly be used with other brands) and the bracketry etc fits perfectly into a nice new set of Optima's
8. Someone remarked that it is possible to fit the tray without removing the wheel and the shock. That may be a lot easier with a lift or other modded rig. I couldn't figure out how to do that (stock suspension set-up) without removing the shock (which is really quick and easy anyway) but did manage to get it done without taking the wheel off.

Steve

All told, this is a great piece - if Benchmark ever comes out with an additional fuel tank for the JK I'm going to be very interested in getting a second one of their products.
