So I think I'm going with the MBRP rear front and basket. So around $2000.00 for Northridge.

Sorry but I don't like the Gobi. Alot of you all do but it's just does not have the BAM factor for me.

So are you spending 2000 bucks on a rack for functionality or "bam" factor? Personally I added my Gobi for functionality both with my rag top and hard top. But to each his own.

 

Now is that I'm being a frontrunner? Just want to get a good rack for my jeep. So is a MBRP not functional.

 

I think the Gobi is cool. I chose the MBRP.

Reasons:
- There are more configurations. - Comes with easy to use bolts and lots of points to attach a basket tent.

- I prefer how it connects to the tub. I think it will hold more weight.

- You don't become limited in bumper choices (i like the AEV rear bumper).

- The down tubes can become useful mounting points.

- I prefer the position of the available light bar over the mounting points on the Gobi.

- The modular front section can be a selling point, but I would probably never remove it.

I believe these are functional arguments, not fashionable.

I did not particularly enjoy installing it. Measure at least 2 times! I measured 3-4 times per drill. One thing I prefer about the Gobi is the available ladder. The restriction on rear bumper choices was the deal breaker for me. Whatever you choose, enjoy your adventures with it.

 

I have the Wild Boar roof rack and everyone I talk to says it looks really good on the JK and givse it that rugged, functional look, like I'm ready for a safari.

 

I like the looks of the MBRP rack as well. It seems to be beefier and I like the mounting brackets on the inside of the top. Price is a little steep, but you do get what you pay for. If you get one please post a thread and let us know how it installed and if your happy.
