Would this be able to be retro fitted to older jK's? Does the factory one have any pros or cons over an aftermarket one? Finally..do you have a pic?

I have a 2011 also and I was wondering why anyone would buy this. Didn't know the previous years didn't keep themselves open.

I went with the hood lift one. It was 42.99, and worth every penny. U can find it on quadratec, just search hood lift and it's the first option.
Glad to hear the newer jks come with this already, us earlier models weren't as lucky. Here's a photo for u guys

My 11 and 12 have both had the strut. It actually locks the gate in place when opened all the way up!

Check out Star Fab Smart Door Stops. My wife asked me about why the doors and tailgate are like that before. Just replied to her "it's a jeep thing". Lol

Ordered the rampage hood lock and tailgate strut. Also VDP stubby caps. Now time to hide the visa bill from the wife.

I always assumed the doors didn't have a hold open device because it would be one more thing to deal with when taking the doors off. The tailgate, consistency?
