best safari top
Best Top is durable and you need a windshield channel to work with the Safari Top. Doesn't much matter what brand you buy, you will still need a windshield channel.

There are at least two or threads on this topic within the past month. I'll give you the Cliff Notes version here: Buy the Mopar Sunbonnet. Yes, it's more expensive--a lot more expensive. But read those other threads and learn about why, and decide which of the two versions that Mopar makes you need. Buy the Bestop only if you want to join the ranks of those on this forum who complain about it.

Hardtop owner's version ...

Softtop owner's version ...

I stand corrected. If you get a Mopar - Sun Bonnet you do not need windshield channel, but make sure you got the money from yo honey's purse to pay for that brand " safari top". OR: buy an aftermarket brand that is much cheaper, decent quality, and save some bones for other mods. Besides, how often and for how long will you leave the safari top on. If it is a replacement for dry-climate areas, I could see the investment with the MOPAR brand, but if just for sunny days or summer use, I think a cheaper brand will suffice.
I should point out that Bestop makes the Mopar Sunbonnet. And they make the OEM softtop. There are differences in features between the Mopar and Bestop safari tops, but the basic fabric is identical. The Mopar features have resulted in fewer complaints posted on this forum about the Mopar safari top over the Bestop version regarding the fit, and the noise from flapping. And, you do get the header bar included in the price. So, all of that extra money isn't going towards just the brand name (certainly some is). But, if anyone feels that they'd prefer the less expensive Bestop version, check out the For Sale section: There are occasional dissatisfied purchasers getting rid of them to buy the Mopar version.

I would like to get a safari top this summer too. Looking at the installation PDFs on the Quadratec site, it seems they both have the plastic pieces on the side to tuck under the door rails for the soft top to hold it better and not have the "air space"? In other words I don't see much difference between them to justify the extra $100 for the Mopar over the Bestop?
I have the Best Top one and so far so good, had it for over a year....I have to say that I got it when I had a 2 door JK and decided to use it on my unlimited, it works good ado is a little short in the back. One thing I did and I recommend to get rid of the air flapping in the back is that I used an adjustable strap to pull both sides of the top through back of the cage, it works really good !!!!
