Default Better option

Do you think it's be better to order rims & tires online & have a shop install them or buy from the shop?

Buy your WHEELS and tires from Discount Tire and they come mounted and balanced, ready to install.

It all depends on the brand your looking for, size you want and immediate availability if it's not on back order, and whether or not your gonna get a deal or not. My experience the best way to go is by a shop dealer. At least there you can get second opinions and alternate suggestions. Most shops also offer deals and incentives for buying in bundles like wheels and tires form certain brands, then of course there's always their sales and holiday specials...

I like to get everything from my local shop. That way if something goes wrong, they will fix it.

I broke this rule recently when I got my wheels -- Got the tires from Sears because the shop couldn't get them as fast. Sure enough, had them all mounted at the shop. A day later one of the tires was flat. It was a defective tire. So I had to go back to Sears and have them order it. Luckily they put it back on when the replacement was received.

X2.

That's by far the easiest and most convenient option. I also would bet they know how to balance big off road tires better than most shops.

The local shop does lifts & everything, but I feel like I could find better prices online.
