BFG KM2 vs AT
Going in next week for the 3" TF coil lift... Looking at installing either the
BFG KM2 or the AT... My question to you good jeepers is how much dirt/mud ability is lost by going to the AT and how much snow ability is lost going to the MT??
Used to have the BFG MTs on my TJ, loved em but they were a little slippery on snow. Considering Im not the mud bogger type, Im wondering if Im better off with the ATs. Especially considering Im in the sierras Im wondering if this is the better route, especially considering the better freeway ride, mileage and treadlife of the ATs. Its so tempting to go with the KM2 just off looks alone but if the performance is better, then I think ATs. Input? -Thanks

I had great luck with the BFG A/T KO on my TJ, wheeled them in Colorado, Arizona, and Moab and they did well, and were awesome on the street in the snow and ice, and have great tread wear. I don't do mud either, so that was a non-issue (and the major weakness to their performance). The A/T may work well for you, though if you get into any deep snow you'll probably still want the M/T. I think the new KM2s have probably closed that gap on the A/T in a lot of the other areas, while still being better off-road. I'll have to make the same decision next spring, as of now I think I might go the M/T route.
I have the A/Ts on my truck and the KM2 on my jeep now and the KM1 before that. The A/Ts definately dont handle well in the mud and i havent had them in snow yet but i have heard alot of good things about the way they handle in the snow. there is a forum on it somewhere.. but i am VERY happy with the KM2 altough i have only had them a few days. they are quieter than the KM1s were and the tread looks awesome. ive already had quite a few compliments on them. discount tire direct also has them at a real low price right now... 277 for 35x17x12.5 and im sure they have the same deal on some other sizes

I have been using A/T for years on my SUV's and have been impressed with there ability in the snow. Not a full on snow tire, but a good comprimize that you can drive on all year long. I also have the KM2's on the jeep. I love'em for off road use, but there not very good in the snow. The A/T's are substantially better in the snow than the KM2's.

I had A/Ts on my F250 4X4 Powerstroke. If I couldn't go somewhere....I probably shouldn't have been tryin. I think the A/T will take you anywhere you will probably ever wanna go AND be very quiet doing it, plus, you will get lots of wear. The only drawback I would say is the fact that they like to pick up small rocks and discharge them later into the fenderwell sounding like gunshots.
X2 on the at's picking up rocks. I have a set of 35"x12.50's on my F-350 Powerstroke and they really throw the rocks. I have had both mt's and at's on the F-350 and for that application I like the at's. On my Jeep I have the mt's and would never put on at's. I do not take my truck off road like I do my Jeep and the truck weighs 8500lbs and I believe that helps the at's. Years ago I had a set of at's on a S-10 ZR-2 and that truck would get stuck in wet grass on level ground.
