Default Bilstein Shock install - how to tighten help

I may be overlooking something but when i installed my Bilstein 5100 shocks, there is no nut or other way to keep the shock post from turning so I can tighten the top nut? how do I tighten these shocks? I've left messages with Clayton but they've gone MIA!

Any ideas, help? I leave for Moab on Sunday and don't want shocks to be the reason for a bad day.

Wrap a rag around the chrome rod and clamp some vise grips on it enough to hold it from spinning.

Do NOT do this!!! There is a place for an Allen wrench on top of the top thread. Hold it in place while you tighten the nut.

It's easier and quicker, I've done this dozens of times with no issues.

or just do the easiest thing... pull the shift boot down and be a man and hold it with your hand...

It really doesnt keep much to hold it still... if you are too wimpy to hold it, grab one of those things in the kitchen for opening jars and wrap that around it for grip.



The absolute hardest thing in the world to do is to get a god damn wrench on the top of the shock in that god forsaken little hole...

I had no problem at all holding the Allen wrench on top of the shock. Made it super easy IMHO.

As said before you could use a jar opener thing, or a small strap wrench would help if you have troubles

Thanks for the tips - I saw the alan wrench hole, tried to get an allen wrench in there, chewed my hand up trying to get it up there to hold it and thought it was a cruel joke.
