Default Bilstein Shocks

I have a set of Blistein 5100 series shocks on a 2013 4 Door with a 2.5" AEV lift and 35" tires. What would a step up in shocks provide? Would it be a noticeable difference going to a higher end shock or should I spend the money on something else?

It depends on what you are looking to get out of the shocks. Are your 5100's tuned for the AEV kit or are the the generic off the shelf models? Just because you throw on a higher end shock means nothing if you don't have them tuned correctly.

I don't think these are adjustable....just curious what the high end shocks will provide. This Jeep is a grocery getter and then weekend warrior. So a drive on the highway to get to the sandbox, play in the sand, then drive home. Not sure if spending a bunch of money on higher end shocks would benefit me much....

The Bilstein sold by AEV are specifically adjusted by Bilstein for the AEV kit.
The 5160 series (remote reservoir) will be a upgrade only if you spend a lot of time on dirt road, oher than that not really a upgrade.

To be honest I got a AEV 2.5 whit the geometry bracket under the Jeep right now and as like you I was wondering the same but I guess when my shock are up for replacement I will but the same thing back and spend the money somewhere else.

Maybe not the high end shock you are looking for, but swapping from 5100's to the OME's that MetalCloak recommends for their lifts softened up the ride quite a bit. The bilsteins were just way too stiff for my liking.

lol, the metalcloak thread is huge, it covers all of their products. But there should be quite a few comparison threads to look through for more opinions.

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...thread-270191/

For the people who didn't want to pay for their 6-pack shocks, they suggested just the basic off the shelf long travel OME's (60066L / 60067L), or the Fox/BDS valved shocks. I understand that metalcloak has released their own lower end shock now, so the ome's may not be listed on the site anymore?
