Bought the metal and primer and satin black paint, it's held in place by zip ties and the little square self adhesive zip tie blocks, I wasn’t the first one to do this it's copied off of someone else the only thing I did different is the pattern of the expanded metal is vertical.

Grill looks excellent. I am trying to do the same thing, but where do you buy the metal? I looked at home depot, but no luck! Is there a special name for it? Thanks ahead of time for your response....

There are other threads on this on other boards - I guess this board filters out the URLs with other jeep boards.. :(

Curious - are people doing this for looks (which it does look good) or also to avoid items getting in the grill?

I did it for both reasons, I've got a few good stone hits in the radiator that kinked the fins, I guess lucky not the windshield yet.
I used that alum extruded gutter leaf guard material, I think it came from home depot as I've had it for awhile. Its pretty easy to form. I cut out 7 pieces
3 1/4" wide by 13" long and then just used a couple pieces of wood to sandwich the cut alum pieces so I could get a nice straight bend along the longsides. So you end up with 2 1/2 wide centers. Premiered and painted flat black. Then laid the pieces over the slots and secured dn along the side with a hot glue gun all around with a dab of glue about every couple inches.
Everyone that sees it thinks its stock.
