Default Black stock rims

I have seen a few people who simply paint their stock rims black. Has anyone been successful with this? Sounds easy.....

Very easy! 3 cans each of Rustoleum self etching primer, black paint, and clear coat. 180 grit sand paper to scuff them up Clean the wheels real good with denatured alcohol. Final rub down with a tack cloth. Tape them off and start with your primer. 3 coats. Then move to the paint. 3 coats. Finally, 3 coats of clear. Let dry and you're good to go. Did all 5 wheels in an afternoon.

I used plasti-dip.. which is to say a certain kind of black spray paint that leaves the wheels coated in a "plastic" coating. It's been 4 months and no issues. Like the previous post.. took the afternoon but only because of the coats. Two cans for 5 wheels and looks amazing!

I made it even easier and didn't even tape off tires lol.. Just stock tires for now so didn't care, but it just slowly chipped off (tires) within a month and you wouldn't even know now.

I used etching primer and 5-6 Coats of duplicolor low gloss engine enamel...

I will say a low gloss or flat is much easier to get a perfect finish. Gloss can come out splotchy if ur not careful with semi

I used plastic dip about 6 months ago and my rims still look good. I like the flat black look better than gloss and the ease of application. I did not tape off one tire to see what would happen and the plastic dip on the tire just fell off after a few weeks and did not effect the rim at all.

I used rustoleum bed liner, works great and looks awesome! And no, they are not "altitude" wheels! They have been painted like this several months before jeep even came out with the altitude. So i say it's my original idea!
