Default Blinker not working after Rugged Ridge hitch harness install...

Tested and worked the other day when I installed the plug and play harness that came with the hitch. Now the blinker is not working. When i tap the left blinker, it does a rapid fire 5 blinks on the dash rather than the 3 it is supposed to do (nothing in the rear). The lamp lights in park.

Any suggestions? I removed the harness and no luck without it either.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

It might be coincidence, but check front and rear bulbs. That sounds like a blown bulb. While you're in there double check that the harness is secure. Remember that these bulbs are multi-function so the tail lights may work when the blinker is burnt out.

If u blinks fast it's a burnt bulb. Might have also blown a fuse while messing with the hitch.

Thanks for the reply.

Its the left one that is giving me trouble.

The front left blinker works but blinks faster. No problems with the right side.

I pulled the bulbs in the back. filaments looks good on both.

I switched the taillights to the opposite sides. The pasenger light works fine on the driver side. But the Driver side doesnt work on the passenger side.

Dash light starts at the normal pace then goes fast after a few seconds. I plugged it back into the hitch harness and got it to light (both red and white reverse) but no blinker functionality. This is driving me crazy.

Do i need to unhook my battery terminals or something? This was the case a lot with my Volvo...

The most annoying part is that I have nothing to tow...just wanted to have the option if i found a good trailer deal...

Thanks for the help!

I had a bad bulb in the back and even though the filaments looked good it was still bad. Changed the bulb out with a new one and all was good again. Worst case you try replacing the bulb and it doesn't fix your problem. You will still need the bulbs for the future. I saw swap in a new bulb and possibly your problem will be resolved.

Old thread but I'm having the same issue. Just installed the hitch and the harness last night and I have no driver side blinker. Maybe it's a bad ground in the harness. I'll have to play with it tonight and see.
