On Board Air / A/C compressor
So my wife has a 2014 JKU that came from Canada. It does not have A/C. It has a dummy idler pulley mounted where the compressor would go. Ive been looking into doing an A/C compressor for an onboard air set up for her.
After watching many videos and doing the grease set up on the Sanden compressors i tinkered with an old dead compressor at work that has the ports in the center of the body. I dont believe i can do the same set up with grease and blocking the oil port on the JK compressor like videos often show using the Sanden compressor on TJs. I think my only option for proper lubrication is the external oiler set up.
I would prefer to not do the external oiler set up if i can avoid it, i dont trust my wife to actually check on it, ever.
Has anyone done this with an A/C compressor on a JK. I tried using the search function but it seems to want words more theb 3 letters long to be included in the search. So i cant find anything using keywords like ON Board/ A/C, etc.
Any direction with this would be helpful, or a point to a relevent thread would be appreciated.

Please pardon my confusion. So you are wanting to use an old a/c compressor to create an on-board air compressor for use with lockers or airing up tires? If that is the case, wouldn't the big drawback be where the a/c compressor is located to start with? where would you be pulling air in from?
For as long as I've hung around, I can't say I've ever seen anyone do or even talk about this. Interesting. I can't help, but I'm interested to follow along for the ride and see what you come up with!!
I watched that video and a few others and they were immensely helpful. Im at the point where im just working out the final details with doing it on a JK as most people have videos of doing it on a TJ. An engine driven compressor will perform twice as good as the best electric compressor out there.
I also have found a compressor that is a listed part from freightliner dealerships that is the 10 CFM York unit that comes with a correct 6 groove pulley that would fit JKs.
I kind of want to do this on both the wifes and my JK. I have yo do it on hers first because my Jeep has gotten a majority of the attention lately. Extreme Terrain lists bracket kits for both the 3.8 and 3.6 to run this compressor. The bracket kit for the 3.8 is a very fair 250ish dollars. The bracket kit for the 3.6 is like 600 plus dollars.
I will definitely still be updating this post with details as i do it so others can follow along.

Lubrication is the issue. The old V twin compressors off old Chrysler Dodge cars up to eanrly 80's were a oil lubed unit with two pistons but not sure if it would fit in the tight space. Lot of farting around when there is some really good compressors around like RFX for less than $200.

Interested to see how this turns out, but I have made the switch to Co2 and won't go back to mechanical compressors besides using one as a backup. Too slow and too many things to go wrong, but definitely beneficial to have both on hand.
