Default on board air compressor

I am installing a compressor in my jeep and i was just wondering if i can mount the compressor on it's side. I am not sure if it would operate fine on it's side or if it needs to be mounted pointing up?

If it is a diaphragm type compressor with a sealed crankcase it should work in any position. If it has an oil fill or a sight glass on the crankcase no.

x2...what he said is correct. The oil could get past the rings.

Yes. It can be mounted on it's side or clocked.
