on-board air compressor
Yes, no problem. I chopped off the plastic screws, after trying to get them out. Advanced Auto had replacement screws(reusable ones for $2.00! The cover can slide out to the right between the front bumper and the frame. It needs a little (nudge) but will go. No problem putting it back on.

The compressor came with 30' of coiled hose so its no problem reaching the front. As for the wiring, there is a rubber grommet in that tub already so it made a wire pass-thru very easy. After that I just ran a wire directly to the battery making sure to tie it up tight. The whole install only took about 30 minutes, was very simple just having to drill a couple holes and run a wire.
This is my wife's setup, used a compressor from Harbor Freight

I tried deflating/inflating one of her 35's and it took about 90 seconds to go from 5psi to 25psi. It took a bit longer to reach 35psi but we dont run the tires that high on pressure anyway. Overall I am real happy with it, much better feeling going offroad knowing its back there.

if running topless dont forget to keep your drain plug off ,,you dont want that compressor under water in case it rains
Be sure to turn it on once in a while. I let mine sit for a few months and when I went to use it, it would run but had no pressure. I don't know if it was from sitting, running too long before, or sitting in a hot jeep but the piston cracked and wasn't pushing any air...
