Body Armor High Clearance Rear Bumper
Anyone have one with pictures? And most importantly opinions? I can't figure out what rear bumper I want. Need one that isn't going to go past fender flares when I get flat ones and that kills my choices slightly.
I've had it for about a year and a half. Holding up pretty well so far. The latch broke on me but was an easy fix and wouldn't let that stop me from recommending it. For the price it's a good deal. No pics on me but if nobody else posts any I can snap one later.
Here is an exact copy of a post i did a while back. The only addiiton I would add is that I contacted body armor about my sagging and they sent me shims right away to fix. Havent installed yet but it hasnt been that bad opening and closing with slight sag. hasnt sagged any more.
There is so little info on this product out there so I thought I would share. I bought the Body Armor High Clearance Rear Bumper and tire carrier from 4wd hardware 4th of july sale. Got it for 715 including shipping. I am about 80% satisfied with this product so far, just delivered today and installed.
The bad:
The directions sucked but installing a bumper is not rocket science so I figured it out.
It also sags a little, you have to lift up a little bit when closing it to get it to latch but is not impossible. would have liked it to line up better, but I can live with it. its made in china. It is going to be hard to keep mud from behind it, it is open in rear.
The good:
Looks really nice and seems very sturdy, gets the tire out of the bed of my jeep and has a highlift provision (must purchase seperately but was cheap) It also has two spots for d-rings recovery points and u can use ur stock hitch if you have one, I dont. It is kind of a stubby and only goes to the end of the sheetmetal which I like. Not bad for 700 bucks, would have loved an LOD, AEV, Hanson or other better american made bumper but the funds are not there for me.

FWIW, other than a little sagging, the bumper is great.
Iv got the shims but havent had a chance to install them yet.
Iv got a little sagging with the stock 18" tire on it.
From what I understand, if you contact Body Armor,
they will send you the spacers rings to fix the sagging.

I got boh of these for my 2011 JK 4dr about a month ago. I experienced the same thing as everyone else. The bumper is solid and sturdy but the tire carrier sagged almost a 1/2 inch and wobbled on its axis. I contacted Body Armor and they sent me some shims (They seemed surprised mine didn't come with any in the box). They arrived Fed Ex within a day. I was very surprised with their quick response. The directions suck, but I used to be a mechanic / welder and there is nothing that is rocket science here. However, if you have never been a mechanic, some tips that are not included in the directions: You need to buy some packing grease from your local auto store and pack the bearings prior to installing them in the tire carrier. Also, I had to seat my bearings in the tire carrier by pressing them in. I used a stick of wood and a rubber mallet to press the bearings in so I would not dent or bend the bearings. Note: if the bearings fall out of the tire carrier prior to installation if you turn the tire carrier over they are probably not pressed in far enough. If you look in the shaft of the tire carrier you can see where they need to be seated too. Once I seated them properly and installed the shims it now sits perfectly wiht no wobble or sag. I am pretty confident that they should be fine going forward and don't anticipate any problem if I upgrdae to 35" tires from my stock 32" ones now.

The bumper Iv got is # 2394 and the carrier is 5294.
I went with the 5294 because it is drilled and threaded for the can carriers that Body Armor have.
Hope this helps.
