Default Body Isolator Mount Squeak

Hey bros,

I just installed a Daystar 1" body lift.

The 2 rear isolator mounts squeak.

What I have done thus far to try and rectify the squeak:
- Uninstall rear isolator mounts and re-tighten all bolts and nuts - still squeaks
- Uninstall entire body lift, reapply medium strength loctite to 16mm bolts and permanent strength to 18mm main bolt. Fasten 16mm to 35lbs/tq and 18mm bolts to 85lbs/tq - still squeaks.

Before I tackle removing the all the nuts and bolts to the isolators again, I want to ensure the next time will correct the squeak.

2 possibilities that are causing the squeak:
-lock washer between body and isolator on 18mm bolts were not installed (need new ones)
-loctite didnt properly cure (its cold)
-there are only 2 isolators in the rear. Seems like previous years had 4 as there are holes that have a place for 2 more isolators, but neither are tapped. Maybe the polyurethane pucks are too soft and bounce causing the 18mm to squeak.

Anyone else have this issue? The squeak is annoying enough for me to go through all this trouble to correct it lol

Actually, I do have this issue.

My driver's side rear squeaks, the passenger side rear is fine.

On mine, I'm pretty sure it's either the washer rubbing on the body mount, or the washer rubbing on the nut next to it.

The squeaking is loud enough that it resonates through the frame and sounds like it's coming from both sides. If I have someone rock the jeep for me while I slowly take the torque off of the center bolt, it stops squeaking instantly.

After that, if I re torque the center bolt the squeaking stops for 20-30 miles and comes back with a vengeance.

I added grease last week but haven't had time to drive it yet due to the holiday weekend. I'm curious to see how long the grease helps for. My next step is to grind a bit off of the washer to make sure it isn't squeaking on the nut next to it.

Edit: To add to this, I have the RC 1.25" lift. I did not have to replace the center bolt for this lift, so that may help narrow your search a bit.

Update:

I've driven 55 miles with no squeak after coating the bolt and washer (where it touches the body mount on the top surface) with lithium grease. It seems like it is the top surface of the washer and bottom surface of the body mount making contact that is causing my squeak. I assume this is mostly due to the fact that the rears on ours have more pivot because there are only two isolators instead of the 4 that the older years had.

You may want to try adding some grease to the top of the washers before applying the proper torque.

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for chiming in brother.

I'll add the lithium grease and give it a shot.

I have the same thing with the squeak coming on after 50 or so miles after torquing it down.

Once I get a chance to get at it again, I'll post up my results!

Glad its working out for you.

No problem. The only other thing I've considered is replacing the two rear isolators. Removing the bolts originally took a huge torque wrench and a gorilla. Now I can twist them out with my fingers after breaking the initial torque. I'm wondering if the rubber wore down from the initial removal, and putting new mounts back in with fresh rubber would reduce some of the flex.

Default I know this is old, but...

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but did you guys ever figure out what was causing the squeak?

I just installed the 1 in Daystar BL and I'm getting a super loud/obnoxious squeak (different than the polyurethane squeak)...I'm thinking its the washer rubbing.
