Default Borla Axle Back

Will the Borla axle back dual exhaust give me the same deep nice sound as the catback?

If you're replacing the muffler then it should definitely change the sound. I can't say for certain what the Borla sonds like on the JK, maybe try search or youtube for some samples.

Ive got a Borla single mounted up under the drivers seat and I like it. I sounds better every day. Does sound like its hooked up to a 6 cylinder though. I don't know about the duels.

I have the axle back single exit Borla and couldn't be happier. It is quiet (low runble) at lower rpms but it really opens up (still great sound) at higher rpms. I did some research before buying and I think this gave me what I wanted. The only obvious difference I could see between the CATalyct back version and the axle back was the dimple in the pipe at the rearend. The factory stainless pipe looked very very similar. I contacted Borla and questioned them about which style (single or dual exit) would give me better lower rpm torque. Their response if I recal correctly was that the single would be better for lower rpm torque and the dual would be better for top end power but you may lose some bottom end torque. This made my decision to go with the single easy! The JK needs all the bottom end torque it can find. The overall sound is fantastic, not loud for top/door off driving (unless your foot is into it) and I think I felt a little more power (also installed an Airaid intake) and improved gas mileage if I can manage to keep my foot off the gas!! I highly recommend this muffler unit (easy bolt in- good fit) but go to the Borla site, listen to the sound bites and contact them to make sure you get what style works for you.

How about in conjuction with an intake, I had an XJ that sounded way better with a Gibson Cat Back and an Intake (K&N FIPK). The sound changed instantly from a pretty quiet tone to a really good lower rumble. Just curious if that carries over to the JK. Thanks JOE>

Default Borla

I got just the borla muffler for my unlimited and already had my Airraid CAI installed. I saw a little better MPGs and tourqe with both rather than just the Intake.

If your letting more air in the engine its gotta get out quicker too!

The longer I have the muffler the better it sounds. I love it, good sound and great quality.

Did anyone have any trouble getting the factory muffler off of the hangers? I know it says to use a lubricant like WD-40 but did it take any special tools or methods to get it out?

I have the Borla Dual Cat Back Exhaust and no special tools were required to remove the factory exhaust. And I love the sound my Borla Dual makes. My biggest worry was having it sound like a ricer which is doesn't, however it doesn't sound like a V8. Just has a nice low hum to it. I wouldn't replace it for anything.

I'm losing my mind, thought I posted on this thread....too lazy to start over. But while I'm here who has some sound clips of their Borla on the JKs?
