Default Borla headers + superchips are working FINE ( wierd !! )

hi all

i have bought a used borla long tube headers ( mainfold + Y pipe )

then i have cut the Y pipe and add to it the front factory catalytic converters only to tame the sound lit bit cuz i know the borla is so LOUD

I have also K&N CAI and MBRP cat-back

the sound combo now is great, it is perfect for me i love it

about the perfomance, i really don't know if i actually have gained HP & TQ or it is just sound

when i first installed the headers i have got the CHECK ENGINE light

then i have installed my superchips on the 93 perfomance tune and start the engine

the result is that the check engine light have disapeared and the jeep is runnig fine

i had a 15 minutes test drive on it and no lean , everything is fine

i was thinking of going with the diablosport predator but looks like the problem have been solved

WIERD but GOOD FOR ME hahaha

what are your opinions about this ?

If you're not running lean I would say you are in good shape. I guess the flashpaq compensated enough for the headers. The diablo will let you tailor the fuel exactly to your setup but if you are happy and the ratio is good enough to keep the engine happy I'd run it. Diablo is expensive to tune since you can't tune it in your garage.

I just did another test drive on it. I pushed the jeep harder this time. I feel it is working fine, but I have noticed a black liquid ( maybe patrol or carbon, I am not sure) coming out of the cat-back. Is this normal? I think maybe because there are only only two catalytic converters. Maybe it is carbon, for this reason maybe borla is saying it is for off road use only.
Except this, the jeep is runnig well

That black liquid is just soot (unburned fuel) being picked up by condensation from the exhaust.

Its no big deal.

If there's a dyno around you anywhere I'd put your Jeep on it. Not for power gains but to have them check your AFR with a wideband O2 sensor. Just my .02c

You mentioned only two cats. Isn't that all they have from the factory? Two cats up front two resonators behind. Did you ditch the resonators?

Ya I have also figured that it is only soot
I will try to put it on dyno ASAP and check everything with it
Thanks bro

Superchips doesn't usually recommend that you combine our product with long tubes for the sole reason that in order for the product to stay emissions legal it does not have the range to compensate enough fuel to keep the engine from running lean causing detonation especially in lower octane settings.

That being said I have personally seen it work in several customers vehicles we have in the past. I can only assume part of the reason it works well for you is the specific factory calibration your vehicle uses as well as the fact that in Dubai you don't have to deal with the crappy Ethanol blends we have here in the states.
