Default bought 2012 lifted unlimited - need help with ride quality

it has a 4" superlift lift along with some kind of leveling kit on the front... when it arrived (i got it on ebay) it didn't have the sway bar attached and the driveshaft was rubbing exhaust.. got that stuff fixed but it still has the stock steering stabilizer and i am not sure what the leving kit is...plus the steering wheel is a little off center... so it needs aligned..

the ride is a little unpredictible around turns with bumps and it seems like it has torque steer with the throttle...

so.... will a steering stabilizer and alignment do the job or is this part of the nature of whatever the leveling kit is or the superlift kit? I had a "zone" 4" lift on my 2008 JK 4 door and it rode awesome compared to this.

I strongly suggest taking it to a reliable alignment shop that is familiar with 4 wheel drive and lift kits. Sounds like a combination of toe in, caster and fixing the steering wheel (centering it).

Here is a link for a write up to straighten out your steering wheel. It's real easy to do....

Project-JK.com - Jeep JK Wrangler Resource » Basic Do-it-Yourself Jeep JK Wrangler Front End Alignment

You will not need a steering stabilizer unless your current one is busted. As for the leveling kit, the previous owner may have added a spacer on top of the 4" springs to get a higher lift. Below are some things you can do to help fix your dilemma.

-First try lowering your tire pressure to 28-30psi
-Do you have adjustable front lower control arms? You will need that so that you can dial in your caster which can help that steering issue.
-Are your track bar and drag link close to parallel with each other or are they at an extreme angle? With that much lift your steering geometry may be off and you are getting bump steer / poor steering. Installing a drag link flip kit can fix that...

Check the front track bar if theres a lowering bracket instead of an adj track bar you should also have a dropped pitman arm. Vise versa if you have a drop pitman arm and no track bar bracket get rid of the dropped arm.
Sounds to me like the lift went on with no adjustments.
Also could give the aev high steer kit a try.

Sounds like you may need adjustable lower control arms and adjustable track bar on the front end. That will get rid of the torque steer. You should also be able to straighten your steering wheel. You may as well purchase a ProCal to adjust steering wheel, transmission shift points, and speedo. Well worth the $149.00.

Thank you guys! I will get it aligned first. It is definately sketchy if I get on gas or off gas quickly..... hopefully good alignment will cure.

Does the jeep have adjustable control arms? Sounds like the caster is off

if it doesn't have adjustable LCA, I would wait till you have one so you can get that dialed in during the alignment. Also, you should take it to a offroad shop for an alignment so that they know what they're doing...

as it turned out the previous owner who had the lift installed (or he did it himself) didn't put the adjustable arms on it......so..... i got to pay for that and then have it aligned by a place that does lifted jeeps.... .it is awesome now.... scary as shit 2 weeks ago though..lol

thanks for the advice...
