Default Braided lines

Has anyone switched out their brake lines to braided SS and new pads? I'm not impressed with the braking capabilities of my JKU , and yes I know it's not a sports car, but the pedal is very soft and not much bite. Was thinking about putting on braided lines and maybe some Hawk pads. Anyone done this yet?

Wish I could contribute but I have been thinking the same thing. It seems the hawk lts pads have very good initial bite. That is where our brakes lack.

The braided lines will help firm up the brakes some due to less expansion. As far as pads, the Hawks are great, or if you are on a budget he Wagner thermoquiet are good. Don't get lifetime warranty pads though, they are very hard on the rotors. If you really want to step up the braking power you could look at the Teraflex big brake kit.

I think I'll just do the lines and new pads for now and see if that helps. Are there any recommendations on specific brake line companies?

I've got braided lines. They also are re-routed to run down the middle of the rig, then along the axle, then to the brake. I switched them because I was having trouble with line breakage. No breaking of lines since they were switched out.

When I had D-44's I switched the brakes out too--for the same reason--didn't like the JKU stock brake performance. I used an upgrade kit, made by....I don't recall now. Already too long ago. I currently run ford F-350 brakes on a D-60.

We can supply you with the Crown SS Brake lines. They will firm up your pedal a bit.

For added braking lots of people like the Hawk pads. We also have the option of EBC pads.

Adding the Teraflex big brake upgrade with out changing the brake master cylinder will give you a "spongier" pedal.

PM us if you have any questions or would like prices.

I had upraded brake lines with my Rockrawler lift so I upgraded to the EBC pads and it made a big difference in braking. I am running 37's so it was almost dangerous as is. Much better now!

Which EBC pads? The Green Stuff or the Yellow Stuff?

The RK Lift is awesome right?
