Just got it regeared Friday and you drove that far and beat on it? Hope you didn't mess those up too.

the shop never said anything to me that I had to do anything different for a ferw

they did say when I called them to see if it was ready yet, they said that they just had to brake in the new gears

but now that you said something I am wondering this
when I was on the trail basically right before we left to go home - I was in 4l the full time and around that time the jeep really did not want to move. I put it in 4h and back in 2 and both ran perfect.
is this any type of sign on the new gears

Are you saying 4WP mentioned breaking in the gears, but didn't instruct you how to do so? They didn't talk to you about short low stress trips to get a few heat cycles on the gears and such? I'm not saying that the gearing has anything to do with your issues, but if they didn't educate you as a customer how to break in those gears, that is pretty astounding.

Not trying to dogpile on, but one can't ignore major warning signs when it comes to engine issues. At the very least one needs to pull over at the sign of a problem, pop the hood and take a look, and then determine how to proceed.

What!? And here I always thought if you ignore problems they'll tend to go away and fix themselves.

I'm just amazed the OP is experiencing these types of problems on a 2016 and even risks continuing on at the 1st signs of a problem especially immediately following a re-gear. I guess, some just seem to have more money than me to be able to risk throwing it away.
