I cant afford a new D30, but I have a Jeep that I cant drive. I took it to Bermont Jeep in Gilbertsville and they dont sound hopeful about getting done under warranty, so I chose to not have them take it in. Any ideas about what to do?
There is no reason you cant get that welded back on for really cheap. It should only take a somewhat experienced welder about ten minutes. I would recommend going to a jeep dealership. DO NOT go to the service department but instead walk around back and ask one of the techs if they can do it for you. Ive gotten away with some easy repairs like yours a few times that way.

This kinda job is a weld shop's dream. So easy and undoubtably stronger than stock by at least double. There's absolutely no reason to take the lift off to get another axle with a weak bracket.

Any competent weld shop would knock this out in no time for not very much money . . . and they'd likely have fun doing it. All steel and easy location.

Yea as some have stated i would get the JKS replacement bracket and have that welded on ( you have to remove the stock one anyways for this) then since you have a dropped pitman arm, you could gete the currie relocation/reinforcement bracket added on, its only $50 and it will keep your steering geometry correct. the jks replacement bracket is only $35, to for $85 bucks plus probably $60 or so to have it welded on and your back in business and have a very unlikely chance of having that happen again.

You realize he broke off the front brace right?

You dont have to remove the OEM trackbar brace. to install the front JKS bracket.

you do remove the OE bracket because its a REPLACEMENT bracket. its not the track bar brace, that you do not have to remove the OE for.

Sorry about the break. It really sucks.

I got paranoid about mine and went the JKS route in the front after I read about some other East Coast guys breaking theirs (boots & RDY4RKS). JKS is solid so far. I'm gonna put the TF bracket on the rear.

Here's blockrockin's thread.

Got a budy coming over tomorrow to reweld the origonal, then he's going to make a custom reinforcement bracket and weld that over the top.
