I have a 3.5" AEV suspension. I noticed what appears to be a broken weld on the front axle mounted bracket that holds the track bar and steering stabilizer. I noticed this after a funny feeling in my steering. Can anyone confirm if this weld indeed snapped?
Cracked or lack of penetration because it doesn't look like it's rubbed on anything or flexed. Is that little tab running through the larger piece of the bracket to allow that u-bolt to clamp down on the bracketry wrapping around the axle? What's the back of that same bracket look like? The majority of the force looks to go through the stock bracket and then the extra points of contact give it more area to spread out the load. Loosen it all up, burn the bracket, tighten it all up.
Looks like a crack to me. From the 2nd picture, it seems well secured on the other side of that though.....and that the tab is pretty superficial; however, I don't have that bracket, so just basing that opinion off the picture and what I can see. It seems like that tab just kind of reinforces what the u-clamp is using on the other side. I'd be more concerned about the bolts jadmt highlighted are missing.
