Your description has me scratching my head. How is the 'spline' broken?

I can grab the pitman and move it up and down. The nut is tight on the bottom off the pitman. It should not be able to move. Is my thinking right on this. Sorry the discription sucks. Does this happen often or did I just get a bad pitman arm? I guess it will easy to take off.

Does the drop pitmarm arm move up and down or does the sector shaft on the steering box move up and down?

Somethings not right....

Is the arm wobbling on the sector shaft? Or is the sector shaft shaking in the box?

I'd be pretty surprised if a forged pitman arm cracked, but stranger things have happened. Is the pitman arm nut torqued to spec?

The shaft doesn't seem to move. The pitman will move up and down when I grab end. The bolt stays in place. I couldn't ruin steering box at 30k miles. That doesn't make since. You guys don't think I broke pitman.

The mileage on the steering box has NOTHING to do with wear and tear of a lift and bigger tires. The higher you go, the more side load you have on the sector shaft. Why EVO, and probably other companies, have sector shaft braces when you go past 3.5" of lift. If you ruined the splines on the sector shaft, then theoretically, you shouldn't be able to turn when you turn the steering wheel, the pitman arm would be just stationary. Take a pic, or video, and show us.

Right. Doesn't make sense.

I'm guessing the nut isn't torqued to spec.

I will have to do it tomorrow. Video that is.. The steering turns. I got up and down play in pitman arm.. Maybe I need a longer wrench. I couldn't turn it with the big wrench I was trying. It is tight on there.
