Is that with the 33s on. If that is the case then that is great. Overdrive is better on the jk than I thought with that much of a gear change

Whatever you decide you'll probably adjust to it and like what you choose. I went from 3.21's to 4.56's which increased rpm's by 800 at 70 mph (6 speed). At first I thought it was too much, but now after adjusting mentally to the new rpm level I'm happy. With the automatic and either 4.88's or 5.13's you'd be running at a lower rpm in overdrive than a 6-speed with 4.56's..

First of all put away your calculators and some table you found posted somewhere on the I-net. I'm gonna tell you what is, not what's supposed to be. If you want to call me a liar then come out here and do it to my face. Then we can go on to important stuff like rolling over your calculator a couple of times and getting on to wheeling some great trails.

Now this used to be an '07 Sahara Unlimited with an AT. Stuff that may effect the numbers include full RH skids, full doors, hardtop, Shrockworks sliders, Nates 4x4 full width bumper, 9500ti winch, Currie (massive) control arms F&R, diff armor, chromoly axles F&R, wheel spacers, Tuffy everything, RH rear bumper/tire carrier, j-can carriers, at anytime about 50 lbs (minimum) recovery gear and me -working hard on seeing the underside of 200 lbs (no wife jokes please ) for the first time in many years.

It's running a D44 in the front, an Atlas 4sp T/C with about 750 miles on it and the 5.13's have about 250 mi on them. Almost its entire life has been spent at 6,000 feet or better.

I reset the gear ratio and tire size (measured at 32" BFG KM2's siped and running at about 32 PSI on stock Moab {Rubi} wheels) with my new AEV pro whatever just yesterday. If you're regearing, buy one of these now! 'Nough said .

Here's the numbers taken from the flatest part of the highway. By the way Red, I sure am glad that Statie had somethin' else to do as I was so busy lookin' down at the gauges and not the speed limit signs.
45 mph 1500 rpm
50 1800
55 a hair under the 2000 mark
60 2100
65 2300
That was as fast as I dare go. Oh yeah the MPG thing never dropped below 18.7 for whatever that's worth.
Now for the best part, I PASSED TWO TRUCKS GOING UPHILL! It's been a long time since I've been able to do that.
It's also the first time in who knows when that I didn't have to turn the overdrive off on that road. I would do this again in a heartbeat.
I dont know how I missed this post before posting my last question Seer1. This info is extremely helpfull. Being at 2300 rpms at 65 is great for being on 33s. And what I like is that the info you have posted is real life experience and that is what I was looking for. Everyone were I live thought I was crazy for wanting 4.56s because they thought it would be such a high rpm. But they are use to jeeps with out an overdrive.

Dude! Let me set you up. Those are the RPM's with the OD on with KM2 285's measuring out at exactly 32". Now seriously you do want that AEV Procal Module when you do re-gear. I believe it made a great difference with mine. I've met two guys with 4.56's and both deeply regretted that choice. One, in fact (Rubidonn, haven't seen much of him lately ) I am sure has since gone on to the 5.13's.

Before the gear change I had the choice of constantly running 2700-3200 with very little top end with the OD always off, or the tranny bouncing all over the place almost in a constant state of shift. Now instead of my Thomas the Train act going up hills (Do you ever find yourself unconsciously rocking back and forth a little to help the JK go up a hill?) I'm all of a sudden up them. I know I only have about 250 mi to date on them, but with an auto I can't even see thinking about anything less.

I def understand about the constant shifting in and out of over drive just to maintain 55 or 60 mps and i hate it. Lets face it; all it is really doing is creating more work for the trans and delaware is really nothing but flat land.
Seer1 thanks for your info it has def made me change my thoughts and probally going to go bigger than the 4.56s and be done with it.

And just so we're clear...all this is with 5.13s and 33s? That's great.

Redneckjeep in the post just above my last he stated that he had km2s 285 widith and they measured 32 inches tall. I agree. he did state that he had the Pro comp accu pro. I already have the Hypertech programer which do the same things. But I def agree that is great to hear. I think that information will help alot of jk owners. Knowing that their jk is not going to be screaming down highway with 33s while waiting to upgrade to 35s

Popo, I think you hit the nail on the head with no one really counting on the overdrive to be a good thing. And it doesn't shift around much at all except on some of the bigger hills. It's only tripped over four grand a couple of times when I stepped into it. It shifts at about 3700-3800 now instead of close to five. I probably have the ProCal to thank for that.

Yep Red, 33's (actually 32's) and 5.13's.
