Built Dana 60s
I'd like to know what junkyard Dana 60s are the best and easiest to modify for our JKs (2007-2011) and what in possible cost and labor would I be looking at for price. Would it just be cheaper and easier to just purchase Dana 60 from Teraflex, Rock Jock, Currie..ect?
Buying a JY 60 might be a good investment but it might not.
Obviously, we talk to JK 60 buyers every day. Frequently we talk with people that have done their own 60 builds in the past. The results of these builds is full spectrum. Some turned out as planned and others were never completed. A 60 build can be done if you have the right tools, information, skill and a little luck.
Comparing a JY 60 with something we build is rarely comparable. Selecting a JY 60 is a bit of a crapshoot. Unless you tear it apart before purchase (which few ever do), you never know what type of surprises you'll find after you drag it home. Once you have it home you realize much of it will need to be reworked. Many people feel it's just not worth their time to go through the hassle. They find that once they've added the new parts they should buy (KP or ball joints, quality axles, u-joints, brackets, gears locker, installation etc) they haven't saved what they expected. To some people their time is worth nothing. To others, it's everything.
Our axles are built with only the best available parts. We understand how to make our assembly compatible with your electronics. Our ProRock 60 has the best ground clearance on the market and is designed to be far more rigid than a stock housing. We work with our customers to find out what they have to get them the best possible fit for their vehicle. We ask questions most people don't realize they need to know before they build. We import NOTHING and consider 'Made in the USA' (NOT just assembled) a very important part of our business.
You'll usually spend more to to get a Dynatrac 60 but it's an expense you won't regret.

Honestly, as much i as love JK-Forum, there are other places that will give you more info concerning junkyard D60s. D60 swaps arent that common on here, let alone junkyard ones.
As far as price, when all is said and done i will probably be into my front D60/rear 14-bolt junkyard swap for $6500-$7000. This is with doing the labor myself, as well as tirelessly searching for the best deals. For around $10K-$11K you could buy a set of new bolt-in D60s. (Full-float axles would set you back more)
Dynatrac, feel free to correct me if you think i'm way off base with the price estimate there.

Great advice gentlemen. I appreciate all the advice I can get as I prepare to conduct my next mod which will be dana 60s. I get my hemi and tranny put in in mid December, AEV is shipping me the conversion kit along with a dual battery tray, snorkel and air box kit. I will eventually move up to 40s and coilovers so that's why I'm exploring the dana 60 route. If worst comes to worst then I will definitely be contacting Dynatrac for their dana 60s.
A guy in my club built his own. It's a huge project but the cost is significantly less if you don;t factor in the time you spend doing it and have friends that got mad skills welding and cutting. Here is his thread. I bleiev he used an F-350 as his donor rig for the 60. There are specific years that you want to get. Details are in the thread.

I assumed you were looking for a d-0 front.....I believe my freind is doing a 14 bolt for the rear in case that is what you are looking to do.
